Webster Lake Ponds
Webster lake is made up of multiple “ponds”, or areas within the lake. Each pond has it’s own character and offers a unique experience of the lake. Below is a summary of each of the three ponds that make up lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg.
“Middle Pond” on Webster Lake
Middle pond is the largest of the ponds located on Webster Lake with a shoreline that stretches 7.06 miles. Middle pond is home to various homes, restaurants and Marinas. Both Waterfront Mary’s and Point Breeze restaurants allow patrons to dock their boats and enjoy a meal while enjoying the scenery overlooking the largest section of the lake. Point Breeze also serves as a marina along with Middle pond is also home to the Islands of Long Island, Goat Island, Well Island, Strip Island, and Cobble Island. These Island vary in size but most of them provide year round residences for the Citizens of Webster, MA.
“North Pond” on Webster Lake
The Shoreline of North Pond extends 5.78 miles making it the second largest pond within Webster Lake. North Pond is home to Memorial Beach Park, an 11 acre park with a boat ramp, beach and walking trails. North Pond is also home to Beacon Park which housed one of the first Resort areas on the Lake and was one of the few places to have an open air theater. When the land transferred hands a dance hall and trolly station were also constructed and Beacon Park was a sought after destination for travelers and locals alike. Now Beacon Park is a waterfront residential community with varying size and style condominiums.
“South Pond” on Webster Lake
The Shore line of South Pond extends 4.17 miles making it the smallest of the three individual ponds. Although small South Pond is one of the most desirable locations for Webster lake real estate. South Pond is home to one small island appropriately named Little Island. This Island sits at the opening of the narrow into South Pond and has one residential home on it.
